“We regularly visit Dean's Garden Centres. We think...”

Good Points
The best garden centre on the east side of York. Has a comprehensive range of plants, bedding to trees, sells some furniture, houseplants, aquatics, pots, greenhouses, sheds, fencing, sundries, floristry stuff, books, birdfood, paving and has a cafe. Has a large car park, easy access & recycling facilities.

Bad Points
It may be the best, but it's the only one, there is air of complacency I feel at times. We are very regular account customers, we have a sign-written van but no-one asks us how we are, etc. Staff often talk to each other whilst serving us. We often get mistaken for staff as our clothing is similar, I think we give good answers, which is just as well, as some of the proper staff are at times a bit lacking in knowledge & approachability. The prices are high, the compost has no multi-buy offers unlike the many other garden centres we use. Staff are sometimes hard to find. The depth of range of many product lines is rather limited. Large bags of compost are often stacked too high.

General Comments
We regularly visit Dean's Garden Centres. We think it's OK and go there often. In addition to the good and bad points: Recently, in the plant sales area, effort has been put into showcasing seasonal plants.
I would like to see Dean's working harder to improve there product ranges. There are 1000's of different plants, why stock the same as every other garden centre.
A display garden, with fencing, trellis, arches, paving and planted up pots, seats, water features, solar lighting would be a useful addition.
