“Bought the ATC 2000 primarily for filming...”

written by hamiltonian on 04/02/2008

Good Points
It's robust, and simple to use once setup. AA batteries give at least an hours use, enough to fill up a 2Gb SD card at highest res. Cold and snow have little impact on performance

Bad Points
Buttons are quite fiddly, and require bare fingers to use (an issue if out somewhere cold!).
Lens is set back in front of housing, which makes it hard to clean (although protects it from scratches)
It's relatively easy to delete files from the camera, and the lcd screen is quite hard to read.
Alignment / field of view (of what is being filmed) is hard to predict - some sort of framing device (rifle sights?) would be useful.

General Comments
Bought the ATC 2000 primarily for filming ski/snowboard holiday.

Mounting kit is comprehensive, although practise and thought required to make it work reliably and without excessive bouncing.

Cable kit supplied was also comprehensive.

Picture quality is acceptable - it's VGA, which seems 'old' and small these days, but a price acceptable tradeoff for a robust camera which would go places a normal videocam would struggle to cope with.
