General Comments
My family and myself owned a few of these original shape minis, but the technology belongs in the year it was designed....1959. I now drive a new shape BMW Mini Cooper, and there is no comparison. The new shape beats the MK1 'Classic' in terms of looks, speed, comfort, and most importantly, safety features. They had to stop making these in 2000 because of European safety standards. In a head on crash, the engine will come through the dash and land on your lap. They also rust from the inside out, rust would appear after a year or so of being brand new due to all the water traps on the bodywork. The only possible reason for buying one of these over the new BMW version would be financial, i.e, you can't afford the new one. Great in it's time though (the sixties and seventies!)
