I have travelled with this airline several times to Waterford and found it good I am writing this review because my parents were due to fly with this airline and my father died before they could come the airline returned both my parents fares and were very professional and understanding

My baggage has been missing 12 days and they will not process a claim or do a proper search! Appalling service.

This was the first time we have flown with VLM and as with other people, we were a little apprehensive. We had to purchase tickets at the last minute because of the fire in the Channel Tunnel and were flying from London City airport to Amsterdam for the weekend. However our apprehension unjustified because VLM was overall excellent for the reasons listed. The fares (considering we bought only a few days in advance) were excellent, £65 from London £24 return leg however the taxes at London City are phenomenal - which is no fault of the airline - taxes made up 50% of the total return ticket cost.Our return flight was delayed by 20 minutes, this was due to some disorganisation with a disabled passenger and getting him down two flights of stairs to the aircraft waiting on the tarmac. It could have been avoided had they seated him earlier than the able bodied passengers rather than just before the flight was due to board.The only other minor complaint was the quality of the in-flight snack. It was fine and edible, but below standards of other airlines I have flown with.

This was the first time I had used VLM for a business trip and I was somewhat apprehensive about flying with such a small airline and indeed on such a small plane.

However, my fears were soon allayed. The check-in staff were welcoming and professional. Although my flight was delayed both on my outward journey and on my return, again the ground staff could not have been more helpful or courteous.

VLM's planes are small but there is surprisingly a reasonable amount of leg room. The on-board snacks were fresh and tasty and the flight attendants, like their counterparts on the ground, were charming.

I will certainly be flying with VLM again and would recommend them wholeheartedly.

Check-in at City Airport was very efficient as usual. We also checked in for the return flight later that day to save time queuing twice. The Fokker 50 aircraft was clean and tidy, and it left the gate on time. However, there was a warning light that came on just after we had started the take off run, and so we had to abort take off. It was all handled very professionally, and we taxied back and went to the back of the runway again. Therefore, we took off about 15 minutes late, which is not bad, and if you were at Heathrow in the queue to take off you would call that dead on time. The in-flight service was basic, although that should be expected for a 50 minute flight. It consisted of a complimentary drink and a rather dry roll with a choice of filling. The catering on the return flight was similar, though a snack (fruit or cheese/biscuits) was offered in lieu of the roll.

In all, it was an okay service, and I would fly with them again, if only for the convenience of City Airport.

Excellent customer service from VLM on the internet and subsequently on the phone; friendly, professional and efficient air stewards; excellent in-flight snack, very healthy and fresh; fast baggage handling; quick check-in - I really cannot fault this airline or their destinations and would recommend them completely.

Flight - MAN to LCY return.

Having read mixed reviews about VLM Airlines, I was a little unsure before flying how it would go. No need to worry in the end. The friendly crew dealt with minor delays wonderfully, with full communication and vouchers for the inconvenience.

The flight was quick and smooth, with good food; and the crew for both flights were friendly and attentive. This little airline are punching above their weight but do a good job. I recommend them for their value and service.

VLM Airlines are one of the worst airlines I have ever flown with. The on-board sandwich was stale, and we were told that as the flight we were booked on had been cancelled by the airline, they did not have any other refreshments for us. After standing in an airport for a very long time - unacceptable. Especially considering on arrival, we then had to get on a bus to be driven to the airport we were supposed to arrive at. Delays were terrible, and staff made no apologies for it. We were offered no alternatives.

The return journey was even worse - check in was very long, but we were through 30 minutes before flight departure. We were told boarding should be soon. Went to the gate and arrived ten minutes before flight departure to be told we had missed the flight. Offered no compensation and told we would have to pay 200 Euros each for a flight the next day. This airline ruined a holiday for us.

I had never heard of VLM before I flew with them last month and I've got to admit I was slightly nervous. Having only ever flown as a tourist before I was used to the larger planes and airlines and was worried how VLM would match up but I have to admit I was very impressed.

The plane we flew on was a Focker 50 (don't let the name put you off) it is actually very nice, it does have propellers but apart from a few different clicks and wurrs here and there the flight didn't seem any different from the Jet planes I've flown in the past. The cabin was very roomy as airlines go and at 6'3" I could easily fit my legs in which is a first for me on a plane.

As mentioned in the previous review the fact that the wings are fixed to the 'roof' of the plane gives you an uninterrupted view of the scenery - I flew to London City Airport and you do get to see lots of the major landmarks including the London Eye, Tower Bridge and the Millennium Dome on both take off and landing.

The cabin crew were very friendly and the complimentary sandwich (although a little stingy on fillings - but you cant grumble - it was free) and drink were a welcome surprise and made the 45 minute journey seem to go even faster. There were no delays on either journey and the flight couldn't have been more trouble free.

The tickets only cost us about £20 each way including tax so the quality of service we received for that amount is amazing. In the past I have always caught the train to London but from now on I will be flying and VLM will be top of my list - recommended.

I'd never heard of VLM before I ventured south from Manchester to London City Airport this year. We were on a Fokker 50 plane which has got about 40 seats, on the way down there were only 12 people on the plane, not bad for £20, I felt a bit of a rock star in a private plane. Although a bit more room would have been nice, you can't get too upset at the price and you're not on it long enough to really have a legitimate complaint. VLM were also kind enough to give a sandwich to keep us busy for our 45 minute flight and a glass of juice, coffee or wine. Not bad really though and bit more sausage in the sausage and egg sandwich wouldn't have gone amiss. If you've never flown to/from London City airport I highly recommended it because the view of the city is pretty sweet. The main bonus of the Fokker 50 is that the wings are on top of the plane so don't obstruct your view when looking down. All in all VLM were very friendly and very good, all flights on time and I would happily fly with them again.
