Good Points
Staff, chef, welcome
Bad Points
Menu never changes, but predictable in quality
General Comments
The Fendrod in Llansamlet, Swansea is one of these privately owned but franchised pubs that promises a warm welcome, staff who take an interest in their customers and a chef who does extremely well with the goods available to him or her.
The place is always full, and the service always attentive. Yesterday my steak and chips arrived promptly, and the waitress (a mature lady) was full of humour and banter.
The steak was actually cooked medium as requested (a rare occurrence), the chips crisp and fluffy on the inside and the mustard I requested came in plentiful supply.
Looking around I could see shoppers and passers by of all ages enjoying their meals - from babies to retired couples.
It isn't amazing, and in some senses nothing to write home about, but the chef consistently produces a quality meal, in a very short time, and the staff are lovely.
I'd recommend this as a far better option to the motorway rubbish on offer locally, as this is only a mile or so from the M4. Oh, and it's cheap too (my 4oz steak and chips came in at under £4! - the chef indeed has talent)!
