Athlete, Tourist

Tourist is much better than Vehicles & Animals. A lot better. There are great songs here (Tourist, 24 Hours, I Love) apart from Wires itself which has genius songwriting from Athlete.

I promise you'll love Athlete, Tourist, it is strong throughout, with clever piano sections mixed with good support guitar in the background, the singing is as heart felt as ever, I promise any indie lover will love it, these musical gods look down on keane and spit, as a keane fan this is fighting talk.

Athlete, Tourist - Athlete's first album, Vehicles & Animals, was a quirky slice of indie guitar pop that got them nominated for a Mercury Music Prize, so they had a lot to live up to with their difficult second album. They seem to have made the grade with this one. It is a more mature offering than the first, ranging into serious territory and bringing them into the realm of indie giants like Coldplay, Radiohead and Snow Patrol for depth, diversity and talent. This is worth checking out if you liked their first offering or if you like thoughtful, insightful guitar music.
