General Comments
I stayed at the Nereus hotel with another family member for 3 weeks from August 2006 into September 2006. The rooms: although I had no intentions of spending my holiday in my room- the room was tiny (two of us sharing), the bathroom was a disgrace, all the tiles from ceiling to floor were cracked, the shower curtain was filthy and the actual layout of the bathroom was a disaster it was too compact and all crammed in, leaving no room to manoeuvre. The pressure in both the sink taps and the shower was pathetic - literally trickled out- in such hot weather water is essential for the obvious hygiene reasons. We were given a plastic tag which activates the electricity in the room- air conditioning, light, water cooler and television- so whenever you entered the room you had to slip this plastic tag into a slot in order to have all the appliances switched on. However, this tag was permanently attached to the rooms key, which we were told we were not allowed to remove - this was a ludicrous system, as when we would return for a HOT day out our room was baking, the water which we paid for in the dispenser was warm- this is not what you want in mid August Cypriot climate. The majority of staff were very pleasant, however a couple of the night time bar staff were not. Besides from that the other staff were great. The food was a nightmare, many guests there that had been going there for years have said that the food has really gone downhill since the staff turnover and it's very disappointing. The only edible night was the carvery night which was on Sundays. The pools which are pictured in the brochure are in fact the pools which belong to the rented apartments to the back of the hotel- the actual pools are disappointing and could do with a clean. The lift broke down countless times. All in all, as the saying goes you get what you pay for, but I know if you search you will find hotels in the same area and providing the same things for the same price or better and the quality will be a vast improvement to the Nereus hotel.
