Extremely Poor Quality
First kettle leaked badly after 6 months, free exchange at PC World.
The second one started making loud noises and falling apart after 6 months.
I thought Russell Hobbs were a good brand but not any more, even the matching toaster bought with kettle only works on one side after 9 months.
I can only think they now make abroad using low cost labour that produces rubbish... would not touch Russell Hobbs with a barge pole... avoid.
Both kettle and toaster in the dustbin after 18 months and bought Murphy Richards as good quality replacements.

Steer Well Clear Of Russell Hobbs Products
Seems the leaking is a common issue, I bought a russel hobbs kettle model number 14175, about 3 weeks after purchasing it, it started leaking so that the water looked as if it could get into the base where the electric cable is fixed, I didn't bother with the hassle of returning it, I just binned it and bought a different brand. I would never buy another Russell Hobbs product again, absolute garbage and I tell my friends to avoid Russell Hobbs products at all cost

Leaking from day one. Came home and found huge puddle on worktop. Cheap rubbish at top price. Do not buy. Called service number and they wanted me to package up and send and wait. Who would do this? It would cost more for postage than kettle. Plus I would be without a kettle for a week or more.

I Thought Russell Hobbs Had A Good Name, So Though
I thought Russell Hobbs had a good name, so thought the Russell Hobbs 11745-10 would last more than others. Very disappointed with this kettle. Bad leak from the window. Started happening about a year and a half after we bought it.

We Lashed Out And Bought An Expensive And Nice Loo
We lashed out and bought an expensive and nice looking Russell Hobbs 11745-10 kettle. We have had the kettle for less than the warranty period (2 years) and it is leaking from the side window. Disappointing. Expected much better quality with the price we paid.

I Am Onto My Second Russel Hobbs Kettle. The Light
I am onto my second Russel Hobbs kettle. The lights burnt out on the first and this one leaks from the level indicator panel. Customer care is poor and as a result I will never buy Russell Hobbs again. I would not recommend this kettle.

Russell Hobbs 11745-10 Features To Start Wit
Russell Hobbs 11745-10 Features
To start with the use of blue for off red for keep warm and purple for boiling is not common sense.
If it is going to be blue at coolest it should go through purple to red at hottest. Luckily the lights failed eventually
The 'keep warm" button is a problem as it is easy to leav on by accident and hence waste about 500w for hours at a time.
Reliability
Our first one showed large patches of rust inside at about a month and was replaced - exactly WHAT kind of stainless steel is that?
At one year both plastic windows started leaking!
Expensive rubbish with more "features" than quality!

The Major Selling Point Of The Russell Hobbs 11745
The major selling point of the Russell Hobbs 11745-10 kettle is its looks, ability to boil water fast and its light function which add a new dimension to the standard electric kettle.
But after three days the neon blue led stopped functioning then the purple one went and eventually the simmer one went to the replacement one didn't fare much betterwitht the leds failing after four perhaps they cannot withstand the temp of boiling water? Surely you would have thought the design team at Russel Hobbs would checked this out prior to starting to sell the product. Admitedly the ketttle still functions it just doesn't look as good as it should .
