“I got the 5 piece Pearl Vision Series drum set for...”

written by ODAKILLA on 20/10/2007

Good Points
The glitter wrap finish is beautiful. Details such as the Pearl Masters level lugs (with brass inserts), solid hoops, ISS mounting system, and thicker heads with dampening rings make getting a good drum sound "out-of-the-box" easy. Very impressed with the sound of the shells. I prefer Birch over Maple, and I would easily compare these with any of the "Solid" birch shell sets I've owned..... "Tight & Punchy." Getting a Sensitone alloy snare stock is a big plus as well. Snare has great sensitivity and much "crack."

Bad Points
Would like to see the bass drum offered as "virgin".... (without the mounting bracket.)

General Comments
I got the 5 piece Pearl Vision Series drum set for $519.99 at Guitar Center...(big sale weekend with $100 instant rebate). I looked at, played, & compared to all other manufacturers comparable sets - (Yamaha stage / Tama superstar / DWpacific / Mapex mars etc.) - I feel the Pearl Vision Series has "bang for the buck", at least more of what I want in a drum kit. A lot of attention to detail on these drums. They've made a "mid-level" kit that looks, functions, and sounds comparable to upper-level lines. I've gotten no truer tones out of My old Pearl BRX's, Tama Granstars or Starclassics, and they've blown away my old Pacific Cx maple set.
