D'Avekki Studios Murdero Card Game is a murder mystery...”

Written on: 24/07/2007 by archer28 (1 review written)

Good Points
The game was quite easy to play, as on the whole it's quite similar to Rummy, but with a murder mystery theme. We had to check the rules a few times to make sure we were playing the action cards the right way (basically, all the action cards do different things, like sabotaging the other players cases, or letting you draw more cards). But overall the rules are quite simple. The game is fun to play, and each game was different. Some games were really quick, and others went on for a while, but it felt like there were lots of different ways you could win. I also liked the way the cards are made with crime scenes, and victims and suspects, which made it really interesting, especially as all the photos are old fashioned black and white.

Bad Points
Some of the text on the cards might not be suitable for young children. Also, you have to shuffle really well between games, otherwise the cards stay together in sets, and then the next game ends really quickly when you start with 12345 in your hand!! Also, I was expecting there to be a murder mystery that you solve, but it isn't like that; it's just based on a murder mystery. I was a bit confused about how to score at first (my husband wasn't), but I worked it out eventually.

General Comments
D'Avekki Studios Murdero Card Game is a murder mystery card game. You have to build sets of cards in order to "solve" a murder. The cards you need for a set are crime scene, victim, evidence, suspect and weapon, and they come in three different colours, but there is only weapon per colour, so you're competing with the other players to get to the weapons. There are also action cards, which you can use to stop other players winning, and some of them help you win; for example, there's one that you can use to end the game immediately and reverse everyones scores. Every card has a point value, and you score for all the cards you have out in cases when the game ends, and if you win (ie. you solve the case), then you score double.

Overall, it was really fun to play, and we'll play it again.
