“The 3G Data card came at noon on the specified day, it...”

written by andywrob on 28/06/2007

Good Points
Well having been ordering products for the last month from Orange, O2, T-Mobile and Vodaphone for my work, I found this card in my latest sky magazine from three.co.uk.
(You know how all this rubbish falls out of your fave mags, well for some reason I did not throw this one away - fate?)
I had totally forgotten about three.co.uk, so looked at the spec for their 3G Data Card, and not only do three.co.uk cover an amazing 89% of the UK with its 3G coverage, but I found that their [Web and Office 1GB] 1GB surfing with the 3G data-card was £45 including VAT (£38.30 + VAT) whereas most of the other companies are £45 + VAT.
(T-mobile and Vodafone are currently less for the maximum data package - June 2007).
The www.three.co.uk website never crashed once during the order process, and one of the best things I found was the "Shop - Chat Live with a 3 sales assistant". As soon as I asked for help and information, someone was there, and there I was chatting away about this and that on a superb messenger style board. The guy at the other end even gave me a promotional code which would allow me a free Bluetooth set of headphones. He wasn't forceful in any way, sales wise, I was amazed how quick he was there, let's be honest, how long would we be on the phone to any company waiting for that type of service.
So I ordered on their fast website, I say fast, as some of them crawl, (I best not say which famous banking site crawls and halts most of the time), the process at 3's webshop was very helpful at all times, with any changes being available without any crashes. The final option was to pick a day when I would like the order delivered. How handy is that?

Bad Points
Now I hate to be boring, but this company, which I had totally forgotten about, who's 3G coverage is outstanding, have no bad points at all, not with their website or their product.
I actually forget sometimes when on the internet that I am using three's 3G service, that's how good it is.
But read the section in general comments about going over your 1GB limit (if you have opted for the maximum tariff).

General Comments
The 3G Data card came at noon on the specified day, it worked perfect, I was online within 15 minutes, of which 5 minutes was opening the pack, and there is that re-assurance from three.co.uk that as soon as you approach your 1GB surfing limit, they will tell you on a regular basis via email, that is so so re-assuring. Please don't forget, whilst some 3G companies will warn you if you go over your 1GB usage (uploads, downloads, and failed uploads/downloads), three.co.uk will charge you £1 for every extra 1mb over your limit (1mb being about 80 emails with no jpegs, gifs or PDFs in, 13k each email), so take care with that. To put it another way, download an mp3, whilst over your limit, and it will cost you £3.50, so keep tabs of your usage. As I said it's free up to 1GB, which I am trying still to work out if that's 1000mb or 1024mb.

Full marks to three.co.uk - love the website - try their shop link: 'chat to a 3 sales assistant' - about three's products of course! (what else!)
