General Comments
The USA Industries Sea Isle 24' x 48" Above Ground Pool is corroding after 5 years (aluminum should last 20+ years or so I have read); the dealer (Sun-Fun Pools of Indianapolis, IN) says it would last a family a lifetime on their flyer. They also said that it was all-aluminum construction, but the screws rust.

The pool design allows bugs/insects to get between the pool liner and pool wall, especially when you lower the water level for winter preparation. That made the liner look gross. It may have contributed to the corrosion.

After 6 years we have to pay 60% of the cost of the pool because the warranty is pro-rated (30 year). There are other companies who have 100% warranty on wall and liner.

We have emailed USA Industries 3 times; they still have not responded. One time we asked if we could buy wholesale, another time I told them about the flaw in design of the Sea Isle, and another time I got on them about answering their email. We mailed a letter to the manager of Sun-Fun and heard nothing, then mailed another letter certified to the owner, and so far nothing. They have until the end of this week to answer the certified letter. We gave them two weeks to reply to us in writing. The labor was somewhere around $4000 and the pool was around $6000. So that is basically $10,000 for 5 years of swimming pool. I think they charge too much on labor and some other things. Just a skimmer costs $90 when I could get a newer model elsewhere for half the price (it even includes a return and skim vac).

I would recommend researching pools before you buy from any pool company. We did little if any research on pools before we got ours. Although, Sun-Fun doesn't even have a website, nor was it a member of BBB until 3 years later. You should check out the reviews, BBB website, Attorney General's Office, and the web before getting a pool. You could try to e-mail the company/dealer. If they answer you in a reasonable amount of time, chances are they are a good pool company. You want good customer service.
