I made a hotel reservation 3 weeks before travel. I saw that I made a mistake- my company won’t permit this hotel. I contacted the Hotel, and they cancelled the reservation.
I immediately informed Booking.com of the situation and asked to cancel the reservation, since I'd cancelled with the property. This was difficult- there's no customer service contact on their website- anywhere. They respond after several days, that they'd contact the property to see about a cancellation (which I already made) for two weeks they tell me in writing that the cancellation will cost me $619- the entire thing- even if the Hotel agrees to the cancellation. They say you can’t reach the property... but I reach them easily every time I try. Meanwhile they send travel reminders like the reservation is still there. Again I inform them of the confirmed cancellation. Crickets....
In self-defense, I cancel my Amex card so they don’t take $619 from me. Later, after they can see my card cancelled, they graciously agree to cancel the reservation. THANKS BOOKING.COM !
What an interesting experience. A travel site from hell! If want to get ripped off, go to Booking.com they can do it.
