“The Cockpit is about as a cheap and cheerful an indie...”

written by PixieOfDoom on 15/08/2006

The Cockpit is about as a cheap and cheerful an indie dive as you're going to get these days. It's a dark, dank venue which hosts great bands, and then later on turns into a nightclub, run with the adjacent Rocket as the seating area. It sits in a railway arch near the station in Leeds, and on a Friday night plays the best retro indie you could want - Madchester, Britpop and New Wave classics galore. The DJ's are friendly. The crowd is mostly unpretentious and just looking to drink cheap beer and jump up and down. If you like your clubs to be grotty and your music to sound like Blur, The Happy Mondays or The Smiths, then get yourself down to The Cockpit!
