“My husband and i looked at buying a static caravan all...”

written by caravanlover on 28/02/2010

My husband and i looked at buying a static caravan all across england,we booked a 2 night break at Thorness Bay on the isle of wight to see what the park was like there and to see what they had to offer us and our family.

When we arrived we were greeted by friendly reception staff, the reception itself was stunning, looked very new and we were told that it had been refurbished only a year and a half ago.Once we got our keys to our accomodation we went in the car to find it, when we drove through the park it was clean, there was staff cutting the grass, you could see the sea, it had a lovely feel to the place, very relaxed, had a shop/laundrette etc.

When we arrived at the caravan we were staying in, it was clean from the outside, grass was cut,and looked very welcoming.

Inside the caravan was clean, modern, and very spacious....a lot diffrenet from some we had stayed in previously...not mentioning any other names! The bedding was on the beds made, and we were looking forward to our stay!

After un-packing the home we had a cup of tea and went for a stroll through the different areas on the park, we walked from Solent village which is where we were staying down through the woodland area of the park which was equally as nice, lots of wildlife to see, we got chatting to other people who were on holiday and some of the owners on the park, every one seemed to be pleasant.

We carried on down through the park and walked to the beach/bay, it was clean, very picturesque and by this point we were very impressed by the whole package!

After our walk , we went to the bar and restaraunt for a coffee, inside the'boathouse'' which was again very clean, staff pleasant, great coffee and fantastic views of the bay and the countryside. The club-house looked very new too. A nice surprise too was the indoor heated pool, good size and felt very warm. Also inside the venue was a small arcade, not really our sort of thing but the grandchildren would love it none the less!

We then took a short walk to the reception where we could find some one to talk with about caravans for sale.

We were greeted by a clean, well presented lady who said she could give us all the information, we had a cup of tea and were very well looked after, got lots of information about the costs, the park, caravans for sale and also which areas on the park were available for us to choose a pitch.

We looked at some charming caravans and also some plots too.

After roughly 3 hours we had choosen a caravan which was ideal, and also a place where the park would put our caravan. We signed our paper work and felt very excited as the advisor told us our home would be ready for a 'handover', where we could get the keys and be shown a demonstration of how everything works etc.

In the evening we went to the venue and enjoyed a live cabaret and a nice glass of wine.

The next day we looked around the island as this was only our second time we had ever been,we looked at beaches, places for the grandchildren and realised that the Isle of wight was going to be our second home, we loved it here.

The next day we caught the ferry and went home, the island was missed straight away and we could not wait to get back to our caravan in a few weeks.

After 2 days of being home, we had a letter and a thank you card in the post from the park saying thanks and that we will keep you up-dated with the progress of our caravan being ready to move in to.

After a week and a half we had a call to say that the caravan was ready for us to come down and inspect.

We went down the next day and took our three grandchildren, they were very excited to see the pool more than anything!

When we got too the park, we had a drink and then went up to our caravan, on the pitch which we picked,it was fabulous, went through a full demonstration to make sure everything all worked and we even got a bottle of champagne and box of choccies!!

we have enjoyed our caravan so much and the whole experience, we even have friends who want one now!

We would reccommend any one of our friends and family to come on holiday to Thorness bay or even purchase a caravan!
