General Comments
Fantasy General is a superb retro strategy game from the makers of the Panzer General series. Simple hex-based campaigns, using fantastical creatures and settings. You control an army of units and have been charged with overthrowing the evil Shadowlord. In order to do that, you have to campaign through numerous battles controlling your units on the tactical battle maps, slowly upgrading your army by buying new troops and getting experience - Simple but addictive. You can play 2-player hot-seat games or even conduct PBM (Play by email) games. If you like strategy and have a penchant for fantasy, then you will love this. If you prefer to shoot things or race cars, you'd better avoid this title.
It was released in the early 90's so by today's standards it is very dated; Its solid gameplay though can be very rewarding. My rating: 84%
