written by ferkessedougou. on 19/02/2003

Good Points
Reliability, build quality, drives superb, lots of extras, looks good, good resale value

Bad Points
Large turning circle, top speed slow, tends to throw standing water on the windscreen.

General Comments
I have had my 1992 model Mitsubishi Shogun 2.5tdi for 2 years now, It was hard parting with 6g's to buy a 10 year old car, but I always wanted one so I stumped up the doh and bought one. The good thing is according to market prices it's still worth about the same, so no big depreciaton on older models.

The car is extremely well built and reliable, it has so far never let me down and passed the MOT with no work to be done. This 2.5 model was only build for about 3 years, and I am sure that the 2.8 would add a little extra needed engine, however the car will pull anything and not struggle. The top end is only about 80mph, but the cruise control will hold it there nicely, so not a car for the speed demon.

I have not done much off road other than tear up a few fields on my brother's farm, But it preformed admirably. There are plenty of extras everywhere, 7 seats, air con, power this and that, lots of usefull toys on the dash. The only faults seem to be experienced by most 4 x4's the fat tyres throw water over the screen so be ready with the wipers when you hit a puddle. The turning circle is pants, so reversing a small trailer makes you look like a bad driver. It's no racing car either, but if you want speed get a V6.

I have driven several 4 x 4's and this it by far the best for drive, comfort and lookability.
