“Be aware of hidden currency charges”

Rented car for week at Feurteventura Airport. Car was OK, it was cheap and I took out excess insurance to avoid their inflated excess insurance cost. I'm pretty savvy but admit that I was fleeced. You have to get the excess charged to your credit card - 1100 Euros. No problem, expected it and its refunded if theres no excess charges however I was in a hurry and failed to notice that they charged me in Sterling and applies a conversion rate of 1.0!!!! On top of that there was a 2% credit card charge as well meaning that even with todays low exchange rate I paid commission of about 14% on the 1100 Euros inflating my costs by about £137. MAke sure you get the deposit billed in euros to avoid this.

Otherwise they are fine to deal with - return car full to avoid hefty fuel charges.
