“I love Barnacles, I know it's not perfect every time...”

written by Anonymous101 on 07/09/2006

Good Points
Competitive prices, good quality fish, nice chips, lunch and evening meal deals, good discounts for o.a.p's.

Bad Points
Draught alcohol is very ropey, stick to bottled produce or tea, the quality of the chips can be a bit indifferent and sometimes the staff are covered in food debris.

General Comments
I love Barnacles, I know it's not perfect every time but for about a fiver a throw, you can't fall off really. The fish is nectar and me and our lass always fill our boots when we visit. The more ravenous male will always attempt to neck the larger fish and chip option. Good choice. This is usually served with complementary mushies, a slice of bread and a brew, beautiful. I have also been known on occasion to engage in gastronomic combat with the gut busting "Captains Table" and the "Admirals Choice", the latter contains no less than 1lb of pure cod, I appreciate this dish is probably contributing to the species being eradicated from our seas, but just dip one of these babies in batter mix, chuck it in a deep fat fryer, serve with a bountiful portion of chips and mushy p's, season with salt and vinegar adding your side of bread 'n' butter and Tom sauce into the equation, I swear all your concerns about the current cod population in the North Sea will be forgotten. Simply scoffolicious.
