“We called into the the Log House in Ambleside on the...”

We called into the the Log House in Ambleside on the off chance that we could dine there on a Saturday evening, although the restaurant only had one other table being used we were asked if we had booked. The staff happily shown us to a table overlooking a field at the back of the restaurant. Externally and internally the Log house is very well presented and has a modern rustic Italian feel to it.

We both ordered the beef fillet for a main course and the waitress suggested that we might like some bread and dips as the meal will be about 30 minutes. We were a bit surprised when the bread and dips ended up on the bill as we thought they were complementary and wouldn't really have ordered them other wise.

The main meal came - unfortunately the ordered side dish came 5 minutes later after reminding the waiter that it was missing.

Food quality was what you would expect for the price and we enjoyed the meal despite having to start without the side dish!

We generally felt that service let the restaurant down as we were never asked if we would like more drinks despite being sat with empty glasses, we didn't get offered a desert menu or asked if we had enjoyed our meal.
