Good Points
Having had my E13 for a number of years, I don't believe I could have received more satisfaction from any other instrument than the Buffet.
The sound quality resembles one of a professional model, and the clarinet has an unbeatable resonance and tone, if not slightly uneven.
The keywork upon this instrument is also immaculate, and comes well packaged, and beautifully presented.
Bad Points
I don't know whether the fact we had to return this product on no less than three occasions, was due to my misfortune, or the product's unreliability.
Having never been able to speak to someone with the same model, I am still unable to say whether this was due to the manufacturer's fault, or down to my own.
However, I was disappointed to have had to return my barrel joint due to a crack appearing within its inner core, thus impairing the sound quality.
The joints of the instrument were also a nightmare to have to take apart after each performance, as the wood and the thickness of the cork would cause the instrument to swell, making it beyond impossible to take the instrument apart without using some form of vice!
General Comments
Despite the problems faced, I still remain very impressed and taken with the Buffet E13 Clarinet.
The instrument helped me to pass Grade 8 with distinction..it can't be too shabby.
However, now I am looking towards a professional career in music, I am contemplating upgrading the E13 - either way, I loved playing on it and still remain adamant that it is one of the best intermediate clarinets, a budding musician could buy.
