“This hopeless implement by the name of Hometek HT881...

written by HereHareHere on 28/05/2008

Good Points
Nice design, lightweight.

Bad Points
Having to pump handle to get steam. Totally ineffective as a cleaner, even on light marks and stains.

General Comments
This hopeless implement by the name of Hometek HT881 Penguin has got to be the biggest waste of money ever. Quite simply, this steam cleaner doesn't work. It wouldn't even shift toothpaste splats on my bathroom sink, it didn't go near grease spots in the kitchen and it was totally useless on a light mark on my living room carpet.

Also, what the advertising blurb fails to tell you is that in order to get a continuous stream of steam, you have to be constantly squeezing the pump handle which makes it almost impossible to scrub at stains at the same time. As I have a health condition which means I have a weak grip anyway, this made things very hard going indeed! If I had known that this was the only way to operate the steamer, I wouldn't have bought it.
