Good Points
Difficult to say as I never managed to transfer music onto the thing never mind actually listen to it. It looked nice in black and the promise of 35 hours battery life is alluring, but that is about it.

Bad Points
Despite hours and hours spent installing the accompanying Windows Media Player v.10, fiddling with various settings in Windows and WMP10, downloading and installing Windows XP Service Pack 2, my PC (which is less than 2 years old and was top of the range when I bought it) and the YP Z5 refused to speak to each other. Eventually I took it back to where I bought it and exchanged it for an iPod - which has worked perfectly to date (so nothing wrong with my USB ports etc. then). When I returned it the store assistant told me that over half of the YP Z5s they had sold had been returned for the same reasons I gave.

General Comments
The YP Z5 is supposed to be an iPod beater. It is supposed to just plug in and play, synchronize with Windows Media Player and just get on with it - no convoluted software needed - and promises great sound quality and a really long battery life.



The reality for me at least was hours of frustration and wasted time. The iPod may have received some flak in the past but it is now on its 5th generation, and the research and development and the lessons learned from previous models has in my view paid off. Perhaps the 5th gen. version of the YP Z5 will be great too, but for now the 1st generation one is just PANTS !!
