“Although I have scored this car (MG TF 135 2002) low...”

written by CJWebster on 10/03/2010

Although I have scored this car (MG TF 135 2002) low above, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, I would however caveat that there are a number of things you should be aware of:

1)Head gasket WILL blow at some point, mine went at 35k miles and I was lucky, make sure you keep a regular check on your oil & water.

2)The rear plastic window will get scratched and go milky after the years, making visibility poor, keep the window unzipped when you do have the roof down.

3)Any engine problems will cost you lots of money due to the fact that labour costs will be high as the engine will need to be craned out of the back everytime.

4) The clock in mine has always been fast.

4) MG badges on the front were replaced until the warranty became void (when MG went bust)as the veneer on the front peeled off, they now look dull and messy but Im stuck with it.

5) Stickers over the dials have air bubbles in them.

Other than that I love my car and the novelty never wears off, even though so far I have spent in excess of £2k fixing it, its probably not worth £4k now sadly.

So my advice would be, get an MG if you have a mechanic as a boyfriend/husband/close friend.

Happy motoring.
