“Awful reliability with an equally awful dealership. ”

written by pemby1 on 06/12/2006

Good Points
Plenty of versatile seating space, however there is not enough room for luggage in the area behind the seats. With the 5 rear seats removed you have a large van like area for transporting goods.
Driving position is good

Bad Points
Up to now reliability has been a problem.
Climate controller is bad to adjust when driving.
Interior mirror is too small for the size of car.
Seats are heavy and fiddly to remove and refit

General Comments
Awful reliability with an equally awful dealership.

New auto box at 20,000 (Intermittent selection of gears), now the drive shaft has parted company with the gearbox due to the bolts coming loose. Front discs changed twice for warping, Air con has packed in, Espacher heater in the rear has packed in, front heated screen packed in, brake servo packed in and the trim is flimsy, wont stand up to every day use, starting to look tatty at 50,000 miles. The real bad point is the local ford dealership,

Evans Halshaw at Preston, I wouldn't let them repair a bike. Every time they have the car they break something else. All the alloy wheels are corroding due to them taking the covers off with a screwdriver; they don't seem to have a clue on how to investigate and correct faults. They told my wife it needed new disc pads all-round at a cost of £350, which was strange, as we had them replaced 4 weeks earlier.

They are totally indifferent when it comes to customer service. The stock answer now is contact Ford, we are not prepared to do anything, even though the problems with the early auto boxes and bolts coming loose on drive shafts are well known faults.
