I have just got the 60GB Archos AV500 DVR portable DVD player for £299 on sale, which was £150 off the retail price.
This is a terrific piece of kit. I can can fill it with movies via my Mac. You need to convert them first into AVI movie files. You can use a programme called Handbrake on the mac to do this.
It has lots of storage space for MP3 music, digital pictures, or even video. I can use it as an extra hard drive for my laptop, and even use it to record from the TV.
Encoding AVI files takes time, but it's worth it. I think it will hold about 60 movies which can then be watched on the move or viewed on a larger screen by connecting with one of the many leads provided. It will be great for long journeys or taking on holiday, and it even comes with 3 different plug attachments.
I love it at the moment. I will let you know if I encounter any problems.
