“Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum, Cherries! Then almonds?...”

written by Erin D on 05/12/2005

Good Points
If you like cherries, your initial reaction to this will be, "Mmmmm..." and if you like powdered sugar (the loukoum) and almonds you will be in heaven soon after.

Bad Points
Very expensive and nearly impossible to buy in the United States. If you do not like cherries or sweet, powdery scents this is definitely not for you.

General Comments
Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum, Cherries! Then almonds? That initial burst of cherry should not make or break RL for those who are skeptical. I thought perhaps I had found a very pretty purely cherry fragrance, but then the drydown began. Cherry? Poof, gone. In its place was a lovely almond (which I think was the beginning of the loukoum) that dried down to a sweet, smoky powdered sugar scent. The next time I tried it I was prepared for the cherry burst and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The drydown was still sweet powder, and this is a long lasting scent on my skin. Gorgeous, soft ultra-feminine fragrance. However, if you'd like it without the cherries--or are looking for something similar and easier to find, I recommend Keiko Mecheri Loukoum.
