“Worth the £400 I paid for it at the time but there are...”

Good Points
Easy to use, and its good value for money. I picked up one of these babies a year ago and its still going strong. I've had some issues with the RAM (256mb is rubbish) so it's been replaced. The Advent 7081 is a good overall machine, and a definition of "you get what you pay for".

Bad Points
Oh my god, the battery life is pathetic. 1 hour is the best it can go for without that annoying low battery sound. I've been meaning to replace the battery but decided I couldn't be bothered. The left and right mouse buttons have fallen off and the USB ports aren't very sturdy. I would consider investing in external USB ports if considering buying this machine. If you want to run games its adequate but you might want to consider updating the stone age graphics card, and maybe a new sound card if you record a lot of your own music as I do.

General Comments
Worth the £400 I paid for it at the time but there are much better machines out there that aren't much better value for money. A few of my friends own this and are constantly complaining about screen flicker, which I occasionally experience but it doesn't hinder the overall experience. Worth buying if you want an economy piece of hardware for general use. Nothing too "heavy" can be run on it, and why would you want to on a laptop?
