“I bought these Celestion Ditton 44 speakers new in...”

Bad Points

General Comments
I bought these Celestion Ditton 44 speakers new in 1970s. A lot of people were going for the Ditton 25s, but these were reckoned as too bass heavy - OK for rock, but I also wanted to play classical. The sound is, and remains, after 20 years, so sweet and natural. All voices and instruments come through clear with no dominance. There is a slight peeling of the side veneer on the cabinet, but appearance is generally OK. I have been tempted to switch to satellite speakers and a central bass, but I will keep these until they fail. They are easy to drive - you do not need great power, and the sound can be easily turned down to whisper quiet or thumping loud. Great, great purchase. Unbeatable sound from any source.
