“The trailer for The Descent did not do the film...”

written by Original on 10/08/2005

Good Points
- Has different types of fear, it can make you jump, yet it is always building tension and keeping you in suspense. - Plays on fears anyone can relate to. - Good Acting. - Shocking in places.

Bad Points
- Too much gore in places. - Some parts a little cliche.

General Comments
The trailer for The Descent did not do the film justice, but I'm quite grateful for this as I went expecting very little. I was therefore pleasantly surprised to watch one of the best recent horror films I've seen.

As was already said, it doesn't get right to the action, however there was some decent character building. Especially for a horror film. Once they make the Decent into the cave though it really gets going, building tension, and beginning a truly frightening experience for the viewer.

The best thing about this film is that it will make you jump at one moment, yet keep you in suspense and throw surprises at you at the same time. You're likely to enjoy this if you enjoyed 'The Ring'.
