General Comments
WOW. What can be said about this game that addresses just how spectacular it is. It may be the best game on the system, perhaps the best game ever. It's so good that even that's an understatement.

Where to begin. Well maybe at the eye-melting sense of speed. Many games have tried to replicate this but, and believe me when I say this, none have even come close. The traffic on the road, the cranes of the shipyard, the trees in the countryside. It all buzzes by so fast. Drifting between 18 wheelers then putting on the boost for that straight. Maybe it all seems so fast due to the nature of the screen blur. Everything blurs, it's great!

You've got all the game modes to play around with. You have your good old Race, Crash, Traffic Attack (a new mode in which you have to rear end as many cars as possible, it's not the greatest), Grand Prix, Burning Lap, Eliminator and Road Rage (which I'll come on to later). There is really a lot to do, and all of these modes are equally weaved into the main game, mixing it up and raising the overall excitement level.

There are plenty of unlockable cars which gradually get better as you progress through the game. When you get really good, you can unlock the true supercars, the likes of F1. This progression keeps the game right on the edge. When you climb in your first car it feels like it's as fast as your going to get. Until you hop into your next car. The way the cars get faster and faster keeps the game exciting above levels you even thought possible.

The takedowns. Brilliant. That is all that needs to be said, but I'm going to say more anyway. Not only are they fun but also extremely important. Taking down an enemy gives you one less rival to concentrate on and increases your boost. The way the camera follows the crashed rival in slo-mo is a work of genius. The takedowns are so enjoyable there is an entire game mode based on them, Road Rage. In this you aim to crash as many rivals as possible. It's the most fun I have ever had.

You get great racing environments. They are based on real places, but none are given there real place names, which will be reffered to here. One race you could be burning along the coast at Tampa, the next along the smokey highway of Detroit and then onto the cluttered roads of Hong Kong. It's truly diverse. But you'll be wrong in thinking that it's only big cities that you'll find in this game. The beautiful alps, Rome, the national parks of America. It's all here, and each one is developed with such beauty that this game could be placed in an art gallery.

You now get to use the explosive crashbreaker in races, giving you a chance to fight back even after being took down. Don't think it's just for fun though. A well timed crashbreaker could take out everyone of your rivals. But if you time it badly however, you may find yourself at the back of the pack with no boost. Still fun though.

As you get into the game though the speeds increases, the traffic becomes denser and the rivals more determined. It can get very, very frustrating. Your eyes cannot keep up with the pace of the action. This game is not designed for us mere mortals.

This game is great. If you don't already own it I command you to go out and but it immediately. It will not disappoint.
