Just arrived back from a four night stay at Marton Mere Holiday village (Haven). What can I say....well worth the money I paid!
I know that going round about school holiday times can be pricey (then again the entertainment put on is better)but I feel we got a bargain.
There were four adults in our party and one infant who's 3. My nephew thoroughly enjoyed himself and there was plenty to keep him entertained, we didnt do anything round the camp during the day as its so close to Blackpool ,we travelled there everyday to do something different. However the itenary we were given upon arrival was full of things to keep kids entertained if you did want to hang about during the day.
The caravan we had was very clean and had everything in it we needed.
The only flaw I have with the park itself is that it could be pretty pricey onsite.....namely the bar and bar food! The onsite shop was also pretty expensive but if you do your homework there's a 24 hour Asda and a Tesco just a few minutes up the road, where we bought most of our shopping and made food in the caravan. Also if you venture out into Blackpool (which I'm assuming is why your at Marton Mere) theres plenty of places to eat out.
The staff seemed friendly enough and the entertainment was alright (not everyones cup of tea but defo good for the kids).
I know sometimes Haven can be a bit hit and miss and there are a few people who are not happy AT ALL but Ive been on four separate occassions to several different parks and never once had a real issue. Your holiday is what you make of it and a caravan park is hardly a 5* all inclusive cruiseliner type holiday.
Might I also add that the staff are not unpaid babysitters so you shouldn't expect them to sort out any issues you have with other children at the park or theie parents....my advice is to keep a better eye on your kids!!
In my opinion if you want something cheap (shop around a week can make all the difference), cheerful and relatively close to local ammentities then Marton Mere is ideal
