“If Customer Service matters at all to you, then don't...”

written by Szyzsnyk on 27/04/2006

Good Points
Overall Sprints nationwide coverage is good, and the Sanyo phones I have used seem to perform much much better than any other brand. Prices are competitive, and they will give away anything to attract new customers.

Bad Points
Billing is mediocre at best, and they will frequently make harassing calls insisting that you pay by credit card right now, even when the bill was paid a week ago. But Sprint Customer Service is the worst I have ever encountered by any company in any industry. If you are lucky, the problem you have will be simple and easy to correct, but generally their CS reps are poorly trained and told to try to sell you new services during each call. Sprint has also been known to change your contract terms in the middle of a 2 year contract.

General Comments
If Customer Service matters at all to you, then don't use Sprint!! During my first 2 year contract 7pm night/weekend minutes was free, but after 10 or 11 months I received a letter informing me that Sprint was no longer going to offer that service to ANYONE, and it was withdrawn. About 7 months later I saw a Sprint commercial advertising "Night/weekend minutes at 7pm" was free for new customers. When I called to have that service restarted on my account I was told I would have to pay for it, and that was all they would say. I have had quite a few problems with them lately, and each complaint has generated an email response saying that my problem had been forwarded to a "Special Group" that would investigate it and reply within 24 to 48 hours. This has been going on every day for the past 2 weeks, and I am still waiting on the first group to reply.

While Sprint will say or give away anything to get you to sign a contract, once you do you are nothing more than a way to pay for attracting new customers.
