Good Points
1.Real desktop replacement.
2.Good keyboard/numeric keypad - responsive & comfortable.
3.Widescreen 17 inch.
4.Plenty of connections, inc. Firewire. Bluetooth/wireless optional.
5. 64-bit technology - fast, and possibly faster when MS release OS,or you put Linux 64 bit on it.
6. Nine months interest-free,no money to pay.

Bad Points
1. Screen is ordinary compared to Sony's newest, glossy kind.
2. Interest free has to be purchased direct by phone, and cannot be purchased on website. If purchase on site and want interest-free they will reimburse your card, but it will take a long time - over 28 days, which means you could start to pay interest.
3. Desktop replacements do not really run on batteries, they just pretend to, and this one really does pretend, lasting less than an hour on mine.

General Comments
When purchasing my Rock Direct Quadra 64 I wanted the following: numeric keypad,widescreen,17inch, 64-bit; that's exactly what I got - a real desktop replacement. It has all the things a desktop user would want to feel at home - including the powersupply and plug!

From the top down: the keypad is a boon for database and spreadsheet users; the keypad is good, comfortable & responsive; the wrist-rest, which I have often laughed at in the past, as a desktop user, actually works and, due to the warmth generated by this animal of a machine, is not just comfortable but warm & welcome.

The widescreen is a boon for watching films, but due to the combination of high resolution & widescreen, text is not as easy to read as you might think. I use a large screen at work and don't have to adjust text settings, but I do on this machine. Nevertheless, I like it, and find widescreen far better than the norm.

I don't play games, and the extra 512MB I ordered is going to take care of any needs I might have more than adequately - I got this because it's the maximum per slot so better to start with that for future upgrading - but after saying that, everything I do is done at speed, responsively, and without any problems at all, so it is not only gamesters who benefit by having top specs.

Then there is the future-proofing of 64-bit. Now I await the new OS and the future, instead of waiting to get out of date - it's a nice feeling.
