General Comments
I make my payments through a bill paying service at my bank. I have never had any problem with any company except Vartec. The do not accept electronic transactions so my bank has to send a paper document. Three times in the last year my payment has been mis-posted showing me past due. It has happened twice in the last three months. I have called numerous times and have given the full information which also showed the account number the payment was posted to but they would not attempt to verify the payment. All they wanted to do was to have me make a payment. I mailed copies of the payment document to the research and collections dept. After talking to them several times to no avail, I received a cut-off notice. I called back the same day I received the notice and told them it was supposed to be under investigation. Still all they wanted was for me to make another payment. I refused. On the day before service was to be cutoff I again called with the same result. Nobody made any offer to verify my information. On the cutoff date I also called again. The same result. About noon on that date by service was cut off. I called on my cell phone to see if my mailed information had been received. They refused to check to see if it had been received. I then asked for their fax number to send the information. I tried for over an hour to fax through my computer but kept getting a message that appears to mean the line was busy. I then drove to my bank and they fax the information. I then called them back. They finally went to the back room, found the fax and had the payment credited to my account. They then told me they could not reinstate my service for 24 to 48 hours which I find very hard to believe. If this happened to their president I am sure they would find some way to restore the service at once. My service has now been off for 24 hours and being a week-end I am sure it will not be back on until the first of the week. I am strongly considering a law suit.
