“I used Kake Bake Self tan Cream before I went on...”

written by AshleyD22 on 18/06/2007

Good Points
Great color! Very dark after first application. No orange at all, and no streaks either. Fades better than any self tanner. Color guide helps for easy, even application.

Bad Points
Color guide is way too dark.
Took a long time to dry.
Stains fabrics.
Turns blemishes black.

General Comments
I used Kake Bake Self tan Cream before I went on vacation and had no time to work on my tan. so I needed something that would get me really dark fast. I have used EVERY brand of self tanner. I heard about Fake Bake online, and I figured I'd give it a shot. So I bought the whole kit, the oil, lotion and exfoliator. When I first put it on, the color guide (which everyone thinks is the actual tanner) was SO dark. I could never leave the house with it on, so I highly suggest putting this tanner on when you have no plans to go out of the house or see anyone. I am Caucasian, and I really looked African-American. It was way too dark. Although it did help the ease of application, so I didn't miss any spots. I used the gloves, as I always do when using a self-tanner. I felt really greasy for a couple of hours, and finally fell asleep. I woke up in the morning, showered off the color guide, and I was really brown!! No orange, my knees were a little darker than the rest of my body, so next time I will put more of the dry oil on them before my next application. If you want to use this you MUST exfoliate and moisturize.

So, here comes the part I hate about all self-tanners, the fading process (eek!) Every self tanner I've used before fades so terribly, and uneven. Like L'Oreal Sublime, you get a nice color, but when it fades it looks HORRIBLE!! So after about 4 - 5 days my tan started to fade. The only spots that flaked away were my arms (right at the bend), and under my breasts. The rest of my body faded like a natural tan, which made me very satisfied, considering I usually can't leave the house when my other self tanners fade.

Overall, the color I got from this messy product, the fading process, and how long it lasted, made this product the self-tanner I will always use. I really recommend buying this product. I am very happy with it.
