★★★☆☆

“Had we'd not paid for 6 nights upfront we'd have moved...”

written by gslack on 13/01/2008

Good Points
Beautiful location.
Plenty of wildlife in the grounds (toucans, squirrel monkeys etc).
Main hotel building is very attractive.
Nice staff.

Bad Points
At US$440 per night for a double room and a twin room you'd expect comfortable beds, some decent furniture and fittings which unfortunately we didn't get. The rooms looked 'tired'.
The hotel is located down a rutted, pot-holed 1.9 km 'road'.
Snack lunch for 2 adults and 2 teenagers worked out at around US$65.
Calls itself a 'boutique hotel' which was somewhat misleading as in my book 180 motel-style rooms hardly qualifies for the description of 'boutique'.
Brochure photos of rooms misleading.

General Comments
Had we'd not paid for 6 nights upfront we'd have moved somewhere else.
