Good Points
Wonderfully versitile bass, but much happier going for the cleaner, treble sort of sound. Very good for sharp, Offspring/Green Day sort of sound, but also good for heavier rock/metal.

Bad Points
Without a decent pedal and amp to back it up, the J-Bass can't give you the clean treble that alternative rock/punk bass players might be looking for.

General Comments
Only my second bass, but it was wonderful to get a Fender. Some purists may criticise it for not being a US Fender, but the Mexican Jazz Bass is wonderful, capable of a great range and wonderful without tinkering with it. If you want to get a better sound out of it, getting a top of the range pedal rack will give a lot more edge than playing around with the pick ups. The guitar looks and feels great, and in the ten years I've owned it I never regretted picking it out.
