“We do not recommend staying at Hyatt Regency Taba...”

written by haltan on 25/11/2004

Good Points
The hotel has more than one swimming pool which makes it less crowded (only good point really!)

Bad Points
It is most definitely not what it is hyped up to be. To say the least only putting the Hyatt Regency name and 5* service to disgrace.
We received the most appalling service from their staff, residential manager, and manager assistant that barely speak or write English.
Lastly, the tour operator; Peltours' personnel are unhelpful!

General Comments
We do not recommend staying at Hyatt Regency Taba Heights, Egypt for several reasons:

It is most definitely not what it is hyped up to be. To say the least only putting the Hyatt Regency name and 5* service to disgrace.

We left some of our items in our room and despite the fact that we rang the hotel immediately on our return to the UK on the same day we left; they managed to "loose" our items. They claim that they are not liable but clearly they will not take responsibility.

We were told that Egyptians are honest people and that if you for instance dropped your wallet you will get it back untouched. Our experience is to the contrary. them back to us nor compensate the loss.

Also be careful of the trips they offer/arrange, as it's nothing but a big disappointment! - for instance the trip to Cairo, despite being such a long journey, exhausting, 5 hours travel on a bus each way with a tour guide who can barely speaks English, is also not very impressive. They stop at their "specially selected" shopping places and where you according to them can do your shopping at cheap prices. However, don't forget that they are all on commission. We suggest you to visit other shops on the same road rather than the ones pointed out by the tour guide, as you would save a lot of money and receive more honest service.

Our advice to you is that if you haven't already booked it through the Hyatt Regency, Do Not!! As this will spoil your very trip.
