General Comments
I have owned a DeccaVideo DDV 2110 DVD player for 8 months now.
The price was great at only £109 from powerhouse, and when I switched it on the picture quality was great for a player of its price. The massive range of compablity with CD's, MP3's burnt on disc (to name but a few formats) was highly impressive as well. Its optical and Coxial ports also work well when connected to a dolby digital decoder. However the good points end their.
The purple frontpanel on the LCD display almost fell off as I took it out of the box, not a great start. The feel of the construction on the front panel did not feel particularly solid. However these qualms aside it functioned as a brilliant player for seven months, then the open/close button on the panel stopped working. I gave powerhouse a call and a replacement unit was promptly dispatched along with new remote control. The original remote had being returned with the faulty unit, which was foolish as the remote dispatched with the new unit was faulty. Another call to powerhouse and a new working remote was dispatched. All was fine for a few weeks until the replacement unit began to malfunction, which would pause and then play annoyingly often after a short period of usage. After such hassle the first time this is the final straw and Decca will not be recieving my business again in future. Whilst I congratulate them for building a player with a great picture for such a low price, build quality and reliablity should not suffer.
