“2/3 ovens is usable”

written by reviewingthings on 26/11/2016

So we fell for the glamour and glitz last year when doing our kitchen remodel and splashed out on the Macon. It is a solid range cooker and to be fair the presales was fairly slick.

I needed the oven in time for xmas and with alot of cajoling and pushing from my end. I managed to get a delivery a few weeks before.

Delivery was fairly slick. You filled in a questionaire about access to your street, access from your front door to the kitchen etc. No damage from delivery as far as I can tell.

Went to try out the oven and we were impressed by the burners. They don't turn them on in the showrooms so you can't really tell, but it is definitely a much more powerful sound than your conventional gas hobs... and we have had gaggenau cookers at home.

So then we tried out the ovens. Cooks a good roast and heats up ok. Not self cleaning and we haven't tried yet, so could be a ballache when the time comes.

*Our main problem is that there is a vent hole cut into the right rear edge of the cooker which vents out exhaust gas from the convection oven. This is an issue because all the moist exhaust gas blows straight out into the side of our kitchen base units and covers them in steam and grease. Major Design fault there! So to clarify the exhaust vent on the range cooker top surface only works on the Left. Whereas the Right one is essentially just a decoration. Which is a shame as it is a good design if only they could connect the convection oven to this decorative vent on the top.

I have tried to get in touch with lacanche uk. Who have been fairly useless with helping with the problem and have been 'liasing' with france. It has taken months with no real oucome apart from they think it is part of the design. I have lost the will and am now just not using the convection oven.

They are sturdy and well designed ovens and I have no doubt it will last a lifetime but If you are getting a Lacanche. Do ensure you get one that vents upwards and not into your kitchen units which seems to be all except the range wth convection oven.
