I have been a customer for many years and run my account faultlessly. My present card expires at the end of this month, but I cannot purchase anything with it - retailers will not accept it and no new card has arrived. I cannot raise anybody on the Customer Help line, having tried for almost a whole day, and during the night. To cap it all the card has now been blocked.
I have a holiday booked next week, and planned to pay via card. I am now having to arrange transfer of funds to my Visa card, in order to pay.
And this is supposed to be the best run debit card on offer. The alternatives surely cannot be worse than this.
