Nick Drake, Five Leaves Left

Five Leaves Left is a truly excellent album across the board. There is simply not a poor song on here. The lyrics are thoughtful and considered, and the music is composed and executed down to the finest detail. The stand-out track on this record has to be 'River Man', a song of such melodic genius that Nick Drake never bettered it. It is also wonderfully backed by beautiful string arrangement. Other tracks of note are 'Time Has Told Me', and 'Fruit Tree'. The style remains similar throughout the record but each song has it's own identity. Probably the best of Drake's trilogy, although Bryter Layter runs it close.
