“Gave Equifax false Information. Now failed to send DPA...”

written by T_SIMMS on 04/11/2016

Incorrect Information sent to Equifax.
My mortgage was transferred to Kensington. I decided to go elsewhere. The other mortgage company I applied to asked why I had two mortgages. When I said I don't, they pointed out that Equifax was reporting I had two mortgages with Kensington.

Kensington refuse to take responsibility.
After a bit of a fight, I got the Equifax record corrected. I complained to Kensington. They said it was all Equifax's fault. I complained to the Financial Ombudsman; She said it was Kensington's fault. Kensington denies it's their fault, though admitted they had not spoken to Equifax before they dismissed my case.

Kensington fails to obey DPA law
I asked for my data under DPA and sent the money. They did nothing. They asked me to request my data a second time, and they would speed the process up. I did. They did nothing. I called after two months. They say they did not know why they had failed to process my DPA request. They said they had no idea when my data would be sent.

At first, they refused to put me through to a manager. They said they had no idea when my data would be sent. After nearly an hour of arguing they eventually put me through to a manger who has promised to send my data in a day or two.

Conclusion
If nothing does wrong, then you are OK, but if things go wrong be prepared to be fobbed of, lied to and about and have to fight tooth and nail to get them to do anything.
