“Payment up front - I don't think so.....”

written by Anaya336 on 15/10/2016

I always buy my cars via brokers, the last being a Hyundai I30. I'm currently about to place an order for a Nissan Qashqai.

As always, I compare the broker sites, and generally the prices do come out fairly similar. I usually make my decision based upon not just price, but the response and helpfulness of the enquired to broker.

Now we come to Autoebid. Firstly you have to register with them before obtaining a broker price (reluctantly, okay - fair enough). Having gone through that, there are various other pain in the neck stages, of providing various information before you get to the quote stage.

Once you have arrived at this point, the next stage is to get the "best prices" from Autoebid. Great, you think.....Not so fast. Before they will offer you the best price / deal etc., they expect you to pay their fee up front, albeit they say they won't actually take payment until you order. There are options from £0, £50, £200, or £600 of their fee, saying paying all their fee gets you the best prices. However, you might think, just select £0 then. Doesn't allow that, minimum allowed was £200.

So, before giving you a quote they expect you to pay a fee. You know what, I don't care what sort of amazing deals you promise to get, you are NOT getting my Card details before I agree to purchase via you.

If you're that good, why do that? Who in their right mind gives card details to buy a product without knowing the price? There are some very good, very honest brokers that are very helpful - providing advice AND a price WITHOUT asking all sorts of personal details, and expecting payment before providing a price.

Autoebid? I don't think so......
