“Windsor, Bath, Stonehendge with Franck as tour guide!”

written by 2Namibia on 07/10/2016

My wife and I took the subject tour with Premium, on Sep 19th this year.
Fortunately for us, the bus was 75% full so there was ample seating space and this way it didn't feel overcrowded.

Like most UK tour guides, Franck (our guide on the day) was extremely witty with a good mix of humor and historical information well intertwined in his narration.

Now, despite this being our first tour since we arrived in the UK (I later had the grounds for comparison with other tour guides across London), Franck seemed to tackle the whole affair on a more deeper (read personal) level, which in return brought a warm feeling of familiarity and easiness between the entire party.

During the touring, I felt as if we were all his children, being taken on a day trip to explore the country's historical sights all accompanied by his fascinating stories related to the sites passed-by, all conveyed in a good and charismatic manner without even a hint of condescending or patronizing. Rather on the contrary, he seemed genuinely interested in the people on his group, connecting with them in a sincere manner, which I think is a traditional trait of most British folk.

All his instructions were very clear, often repeated more than once, but I guess this has more to do with his past experience with non-English speaking tourists which, in return, has thought him to apply such preventive measures, even if "obnoxious" to some, all in a hope to avoid searching for and chasing lost or late tourists around quaint little English villages thus delaying the entire expedition.

Anyway, as mentioned earlier, most British guides are a pleasure to listen to but with Franck things felt different. It all felt as if he was part of the group, a fellow tourist that just knew all about the sights and surroundings, and as such, offered to provide the narration for the rest of us.

Franck, we hope you receive the British tour guide award of the year (if such award actually does exist).

We enjoyed the experience immensely.
