“We stayed at Sandals Regency Golf Resort and Spa for 2...”

written by lourhys on 28/04/2005

Good Points
The Bluff honeymoon room with plunge pool very nice - but so it should be for the price!

Bad Points
An average all round resort with stupid price tag and unfounded claims. Quite aged, poor food and poor service (except few very friendly staff) Terrible nightly entertainment. Dont bother!

General Comments
We stayed at Sandals Regency Golf Resort and Spa for 2 weeks for our honeymoon and booked the bluff honeymoon suite with plunge pool, the holiday was very expensive and we were really looking forward to this experience in what they claim is "the worlds most glamorous resort".

We often stay in All inclusive resorts and were in the Dominican Republic in December which was great value for money. However were looking forward to the "ultra all inclusive"

When we arrived we were 'upgraded' to a villa with pool and the member of concierge who escorted us claimed it was the best accommodation in resort. This member of staff told us our butler would unpack for us! However he did not turn up even after being asked.

The villa was large but just like the rest of the resort was very average! The TV in bedroom, telephone in bedroom and kettle were all not working. (were rectified after we complained). We complained for 3 days about being woke up at 4.30am by dogs (plural) barking behind us, we were eventually moved back to the bluff room.

The bluff suite was very nice but again noisy as the bathroom en suite to bedroom has large open vents (more like hole with lats) rather than e.g. an extractor fan, thus hearing very clearly all going on outside, vehicles, talking, birds etc. The food was very very ordinary and a disgrace to even call it "world class", I asked in the La Toc restaurant if I could have plain chicken rather than stuffed with brie (as I'm pregnant) they said no! the staff were abrupt and like a conveyer belt, we waited a week for reservation for this treatment. No staff wore white gloves as advertised either. Kimonos restaurant was the best food and the only one where food is freshly prepared rather than scolding plates which have been kept in hot locker.

Drinks were served during the day in plastic or paper glasses (yuk) which I sent back several times as were chipped and cracked. The night time entertainment was the worst of any all inclusive anywhere I have ever been! we were soooo bored. We paid £7000 for this holiday and wish we had not! for an average sum of money you get an average resort but not for several thousands of pounds. There was no point in the butler service at all, rather wait an hour for our butler to call us back we made our own reservations etc (very difficult at the press of 4 telephone digits haha).

we looked forward to motorised water sports (all inclusive) but to be told on arrival the regency removed them due to an accident. great!

I would only recommend this hotel if you get it for a good price, otherwise don't bother! Very dull and average all round
