“New York to Washington”

Booked for a day trip from NYC to Washington and back through the Megabus website in advance. Got a very good price (less than $25 per person after tax and fees) for premium seats around a table.

The outward trip was excellent. We presented our reservations and boarded the bus, that took us quickly to our destination. The return journey was less straightforward and we arrived back in New York an hour later than expected. The delay was a combination of leaving Washington later than timetabled, the long-winded route back (presumably to avoid tolls) and an extended stop in Baltimore. The driver on the return leg was also abrupt with several customers.

Free wifi didn't work on the first bus, but it did on the second. On this occasion, the seats were not completely sold out so there was no problem with reserved seats being sold. We were sure to be at the stop at least 15 minutes before departure to ensure we did not fall into this trap, which is difficult to find on their website and not mentioned in the reservation email. The buses were well conditioned, with the bus back actually being cold - quite a feat in the recent heatwave!

Megabus got us from A-B (and eventually back to A) at a good price and I would be prepared to try their service again next time.
