“My 5 yr old son loves the Bear Factory. He purchased...”

written by amilee on 24/07/2010

My 5 yr old son loves the Bear Factory. He purchased the Jack Russell Terrier, which is brown and white. He got him stuffed medium, which means he is still cuddly. The staff recommend making the bear hard if you want to put skates on him but we found it's not a problem.

The dog he picked was around £18.00 but a few extra pounds to have a heart put inside that actually beats. You can also choose for your animal to be able to sing, bark or say a phrase. For the Jack Russell you can also purchase a puppy Jack Russell which has a magnet in it's collar and attaches to a magnet in the dogs mouth. After the bear is stuffed you type in your details into the computer and get a certificate with the pet name, date of purchase and owner. By the time I left the shop we had the dog with heart and bark and a puppy. They put it in a lovely box with the animal of your choices head poking out. All that cost around £28.00. Although a little expensive, he plays with him regulary and a nice change from computer games. He finds it relaxing listening to the dog's heart beating at bedtime.

Since then we have been visiting The Bear Factory on a regular basis. Nursery had a Bring Your Bear Day and his dog had to go and get a new outfit. We left that day with roller skates (£5 per pair), shoes (£5 per pair) a collar and lead (around £5).

Today and we came home with a black mobile phone and a pretend mp3 player, both around £5. The phone rings and the mp3 plays 3 diff tunes. He loved the MP3, but a little disappointed that the h/phones were pretend. He has been using the mp3 for himself tonight and dancing about with it

After you make your first purchase you get a bar code which allows you to access the BF web site. A sort of virtual bear world where you can meet others. I am not that impressed as you have to go into the BF shop and purchase tokens to use the site and pretend to buy anything.I feel your purchase of anything in the shop should allow you access to play on the site for free.

The staff are very friendly, reminds me of the Disney store. They go out of their way to help. It honestly passes a good 40 mins when we go their as he takes his dog to groom him etc. Great to pass the time on a horrible day.

Overall excellent toy and shop, can be expensive but you can buy items like brushes, shoes, h/dryer, phone etc for circa £5, other items £10 upwards.
