Good Points
Easy to use successfully.

Bad Points
Slow reaction of shutter when taking pictures. Difficult to 'capture the moment' due to the delay.
Lack of small detailed instruction manual which would be useful for instant reference - only on-line or CD manual available.

General Comments
The Olympus 990 zoom has everything I needed from a digital camera. It is compact, good looking and produces excellent quality images.

As an amateur, but keen photographer, I was keen to try digital and this has been an excellent camera to learn on. Results were a little disappointing to begin with but since I have studied the manual in detail, the results have been fabulous.

The software is also very easy to learn and manipulate once you get used to it. The thrill of being able to download, edit, then upload for printing is great. This, of course, can be done on any digital camera but as a novice it is quite exciting to be able to achieve this immediately.

My only disappointment is that it does not have an automatic flash. The flash has to be manually opened to activate which can delay the shot and be tedious to those whose picture you are taking.
